Sharon Bartl was first elected in May 2005. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business with of focus in Marketing and Advertising from Wayne State University. Sharon’s work experience crosses multiple industries including IT,automotive, healthcare and finance.
All of her work experience has a heavy focus on service to clients. Sharon carries that focus into her role as member of the Lake Shore Board of Education as she serves students, parents, staff and our community. Sharon has contributed to Lake Shore in many roles by supporting our schools before she had school aged children through the present, and is the proud mom of two Shorian graduates. She continues to pursue education to continually improve as a board member. She earned multiple awards from the Michigan Association of School Board Members including Level 4 Master Board Member, Advocacy Skills Specialty, and Data Specialty. Sharon continues to attend classes and conferences to obtain knowledge and skills to benefit the district.
Sharon appreciates the opportunity to serve the community and welcomes contact from students, parents, staff and the community. Sharon recognizes and is grateful for the efforts of current and past stakeholders who contributed to the uniqueness and success of the district. There is no place better to raise and educate a child than in the building, hands, and hearts of Lake Shore Public Schools.
Kurt Ziegler was elected to the Board of Education in 2008. Kurt is a property manager for a large housing cooperative here in the Shores, in our District for the past 35 years. He attended Masonic Heights, Kennedy and graduated from Lake Shore in 1977. Kurt’s wife and three boys all followed the same route and graduated as proud Shorians also.
He has always been involved with the community and served on the St. Clair Shores Baseball Board for many years. Kurt and his family are outdoor enthusiasts. They enjoy camping, fishing, boating, canoeing and hunting together.
As a school board member, he wants to continue strengthening our District financially while providing our students, staff and administrators with the best tools possible to be successful. Kurt is a firm believer that students have a stronger chance of success when parents, teachers, staff and the community are involved, properly informed and work together. Kurt and his family are proud to be Shorians and there is no better place to raise a family than here at Lake Shore and St. Clair Shores.

Mrs. Elizabeth Munger

Elizabeth Munger has a BA in Biology from Oakland University. She currently is employed at Chase Bank and has provided dedicated service for 14 years. She is the Executive Director of the Miss St. Clair Shores Scholarship Program, a local Miss America Preliminary and the longest consecutive running program in the state. She also serves as the Co-Chair of the Lac Ste. Claire Fine Art Fair and Saint Clair Shores Activities Committee member.
She is the proud mother of two children, Julia and Andrew, and both attend Lake Shore Public Schools. Elizabeth brings a different perspective of having attended parochial schools for 10 years and is excited about making Lake Shore an even better place to learn and grow.
Susan DeLong was appointed in April 2016 and elected in 2018. Susan earned her Associates Degree from Macomb Community College. She is an Associate Financial Representative for Northwestern Mutual and has also been Administrative Assistant for a tax/legal attorney for the past 30 years.
Susan and her husband, Jim, have lived in the Lake Shore School District since 1993. Their two children graduated from Lake Shore in 2010 and 2012 and received their Bachelor’s Degrees from Central Michigan University. Their daughter, Chelsea, received her Masters Degree in Creative Writing from Hamline University and still resides in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Their son, Jimmy, is a Lieutenant for the United States Army and resides with his wife, Bre, at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. Her husband, Jim, has been the Head Bowling Coach for Lake Shore since 2011 and Susan is the JV Girls Bowling Coach. She has been an active member in the Athletic Booster Club for the past 9 years.
Joshua Denzler was elected in November 2016 and will serve a term until the end of 2022. He holds a Bachelor's of Business Administration from the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business, and has achieved the Award of Merit and Advocacy Skills Specialty from the Michigan Association of School Boards.
Joshua is also an active member of the Detroit Economic Club's Young Leader Program and a mentor in their Career Readiness Academy. Joshua is passionate about connecting and empowering young leaders from across the state into leadership, especially educational leadership.
Daniel Colling was appointed to the board in February of 2017 and elected to fill a two-year partial term in November of 2018. He has lived in St. Clair Shores his whole life and spent all of his K-12 years in Lake Shore Public Schools. He graduated from Michigan State University in 2016 with a degree in Social Relations and Policy.
Since then, he's worked at United Way for Southeastern Michigan as a Corporate Relations Associate, raising support for various resource programs in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties. He is passionate about public education, equity, and expanding college and career opportunities for all children.
Amy Thomas-August was elected to the Board of Education on November 3rd, 2020. She is a life-long Shorian who attended North Shore Elementary, Kennedy, and Lake Shore High School, graduating in 1990.She earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Wayne State University and then a Masters in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove College.She has been a teacher at Fountain Elementary in Roseville Community Schools for 22 years and is currently teaching first grade.
She and her husband Tim have raised their daughters within the Lake Shore community.Her oldest, Catherine, was the Lake Shore High School Class of 2020 Valedictorian and her youngest, Mary, will be a proud member of Lake Shore’s Class of 2024. Amy volunteers as a Girl Scout leader for girls who attend Kennedy Middle School and Lake Shore High School.Amy is appreciative for the opportunity to serve on the Lake Shore Board of Education. As a member, she is committed to endorse policies that effectively support the education of all the students in Lake Shore Public Schools.
Alexia Batayeh is a senior at Lake Shore High School and has been a part of the Lake Shore community since 8th grade when she moved here from Myrtle Beach. Alexia has always been dedicated to her studies and has maintained over a 4.0 GPA throughout her high school career. She has previously been vice president of her class, and is very dedicated to being a student leader this year and setting the right examples for everyone at Lake Shore. Alexia has taken a number of AP classes throughout high school, participated in the Upstander program as well as National Honor Society, and is a part of Fusion, the audition show choir at Lake Shore. She currently works at Lakeshore Senior Living and values the work of helping others and being kind.
She is currently a part of the Junior class at Lake Shore High School, and she has been in the Lake Shore family since Kindergarten. She swims for the Varsity Swim team, works at Loris Lick Em Up, and is the President of the Junior class. She works very hard to maintain above a 4.0 GPA and aspires to go to the University of Pennsylvania to become a Forensic Scientist.
