Employee Services

Welcome to Employee Services

This page contains useful information for district employees and those interested in becoming part of the Lake Shore family, and will be updated regularly with important information for employees during the school closure.

COVID-19 Closure - Employee Compensation Information

During the state mandated school closure, please note the following regarding compensation:

  • Effective 3/23/20 and until further notice AFSCME staff must record hours that they work onsite on this timesheet:  Onsite Timesheet for Custodians, M & O, and Food Service. This timesheet is for hours worked onsite from April 4, 2020 through April 17, 2020.
  • Custodians, M & O, and Food Service will be paid straight time for the remaining hours on their schedule.
  • Effective 3/23/20 - LSFSS staff will be paid their posted hours.  No time sheet is required.  You will receive an email and be asked to confirm your hours.
  • Teachers, administration, admin support, admin non-unit, and Adult & Community Education employees will be compensated as usual.  No additional action is needed on your part.
  • Staff employed through EduStaff who are in long term and district/building sub assignments, will continue to be compensated while buildings are closed.  EduStaff subs in long term assignments should work on facilitating online learning for their students, and district/building subs should remain in contact with their building administrators to determine how they can be of support during the closure.
  • All staff who are on leave, will continue under the terms of their existing leave until it expires.  If your leave is unpaid, being covered using banked days, central sick, etc., this will continue.  When the leave ends, and the employee is released to return to work, regular compensation will resume.

Please email George Lewis (glewis@lsps.org), or Misty Blaesing (mblaesing@lsps.org) if you have questions or need assistance.

COVID-19 - Essential Personnel

Compensation

In response to the unprecedented events surrounding the COVID-19 closure of schools, effective March 20, 2020 and until further notice, custodial, maintenance, food service, technology, and business office essential personnel and standby employees who are non-exempt (hourly employees), shall be paid 2.0 times their hourly rate when required by the superintendent or designee to report to work at a district site. This additional compensation shall begin from the time the employee reports to work, and will conclude at the end of their scheduled on-site shift.  Any remaining hours which were previously (prior to the closure) part of an employee’s regular weekly hourly total, shall be paid at a straight-time rate. This action is subject to withdraw and/or revision at the sole discretion of the district at any time.

Please review this document: Essential and Standby Personnel

COVID-19 - Paid Sick Leave

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA or Act) requires certain employers to provide their employees with paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19. These provisions will apply from April 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020.  See details here: FFRCA  Poster
