This is the image for the news article titled Featured Story: LSHS Commencement CeremonyLake Shore High School celebrated its 101st commencement ceremony on Saturday, June 1, 2024, conferring requirements on 190 graduates.

A copy of the program can be found here.

The bagpipe entrance, reflections from speeches, and music from our choir and band performances were truly breathtaking. All graduates wore the same gown this year – red with white arm stripes which promotes unity.

Each graduate was given the opportunity to invite their Lake Shore staff VIP to attend graduation.  This VIP was a staff member that had the biggest positive impact on their education experience.  The VIPs were seated on the field in a reserved area so they could hug, high five, fist bump or politely wave at their beloved students.

This year’s keynote speaker was Kara Wolfbauer. Wolfbauer is a 2019 graduate of Lake Shore High School. In her time at LSHS, Wolfbauer excelled in the media productions program.  Since graduating, she went on to be the Valedictorian of her graduating class at the University of Detroit Mercy, a decorated collegiate softball player, and is now employed as the official Game Host for both the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings.

For 101 years, the Lake Shore community has trusted us to educate their children,“ said Lake Shore High School Principal Janelle Bross.  “It is not a commitment we take lightly.  Graduation is the culmination of years of hard work from students as well as teachers and families.  This year and every year is a celebration for not just the students, but the entire community as well.”

Good luck, Class of 2024!
