Notice of Public Hearing

Lake Shore Public Schools hereby publicly announced a hearing which was held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. and at 12:30 p.m. at Lake Shore High School, 22980 East Thirteen Mile Rd. Room 117, St. Clair Shores, Michigan.

This was a Public Hearing for the purpose of discussing the use of the Elementary & Secondary Education Act, Title VII, Part A (Indian Education Act monies).

All members of the public were invited to discuss the academic and cultural needs of the students of Indian descendants with the Parent Committee.

Statement of Purpose

Indian Education is a Federal program, under Title VI, whose purpose is "to support the local school district in its effort to provide Indian students the opportunity to achieve high standards and meet the special educational and culturally related academic needs of American Indian and Alaska Native students." E.D.G.A.R. 34 CFR Section 9102 (a.)

This program serves Native American students in Lake Shore Public Schools, South Lake, Lakeview, Roseville, Fraser, East Pointe Community and Harper Woods School Districts.

Any student registered in our program can be involved in activities. A form called the 506 form must be completed to be considered registered. Although a Tribal Enrollment number is preferred, a parent/guardian can register their child if they have the minimum information of student name, tribal affiliation, and a parent signature. Please e-mail or phone our office for a registration form.

The Lake Shore Public Schools Indian Education Consortium has been serving the local Native American community for over 40 years.

Our Mission

To ensure the academic success and meet the cultural needs of our Native American students. Our primary objective is to raise student achievement in reading and math.
